We love a maternity photo shoot, but this one was a little different! You may recognise Alison, as she is my go to makeup artist and we’ve worked together for over 12yrs. Alison missed the opportunity to have a maternity photo shoot the first time round, so we made sure it happened for baby number two!
We’ve just come out of lockdown and I’ve been working hard on new sets for the studio, so we thought it was a great time for Alison to come in for some pregnancy images. See her journey below…
Meet Alison,
What made you want to do a maternity photo shoot? I didn’t do a photo shoot with my first child and with this being my last baby, I thought it would be a lovely thing to do. I felt like I missed out the first time around, so I wanted to have pictures to cherish this time.
How did you feel before and after the photo shoot? I felt nervous at the thought of being in my underwear at this late stage in pregnancy, when I am not feeling glamorous at all! But afterwards felt liberated and more acceptance with my body’s natural changes. I was excited to see the final images.
What was you favourite part of the shoot? It has to be getting glammed up and feeling pampered after a year on and off in lockdown! It was strange being in front of the camera, as I normally help assist Louise during the Boudoir sessions. Even so, it was still daunting at first, but once the music on and I felt relaxed and more comfortable.
How has pregnancy been for you during lockdown? It’s definitely been a lot harder than my first, I’m older now and with more complications, like gestational diabetes. Managing my sugar levels on a daily basis has been challenging, but I am nearly at the end now!
What has been the most challenging part of your pregnancy? Not being able to drink Prosecco. Only joking! Dealing with a toddler when feeling sick. Towards the end you have a lot of appointments so managing my time is a big factor too.
What are you most looking forward to once baby is here? I am looking forward to bonding with my baby and seeing my two girls together. Roll on May!
